Oral surgery
Assessment and surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth by our maxillofacial surgeon, with a CBCT scan where the nerve is close.
Wisdom teeth only need removing when they are causing problems — repeated infection, decay in the tooth in front, cysts or persistent pain. A wisdom tooth that is behaving itself is left alone.
Where the roots sit close to the nerve in the lower jaw, we take a CBCT scan first so the risk can be measured rather than estimated, and discussed with you honestly before you consent.
Surgery is carried out under local anaesthetic, with sedation available. Most people take two to three days off normal activity.
