Restorative dentistry
Treatment that removes infection from inside the tooth and saves it, performed under local anaesthetic with rotary instruments and magnification.
When decay or trauma reaches the nerve, the tissue inside the tooth becomes infected. The choice at that point is between root canal treatment and losing the tooth.
The treatment cleans and disinfects the canal system inside the root, then seals it. It is done under local anaesthetic, and modern rotary instruments have made it considerably quicker and more comfortable than its reputation suggests.
A back tooth that has had root canal treatment is more brittle and usually needs a crown afterwards to protect it from fracture. We will tell you upfront if that applies, so the full cost is clear from the start.
Who will treat you
You can request any of these clinicians by name when you book, or choose the first available appointment.
Patient reviews
I had put off a root canal for two years because of what I imagined it would be like. Dr. Wijesinghe talked me through every stage before she started, and the appointment itself was genuinely uneventful. I wish I had come in sooner.
