About this treatment
Fixed braces remain the most versatile and predictable way to correct crowding and bite problems, and for complex cases they can do things aligners simply cannot.
Treatment begins with records — photographs, a digital scan and radiographs — and a plan that sets out what is achievable, how long it will take and what it will cost in total.
Adjustments are every six to eight weeks, and because Dr. Reynolds is based full-time at the Austin practice, you see the same clinician at every visit.

Before your appointment
- Any decay must be treated and gums must be healthy before fitting
- A hygiene visit is arranged before the braces go on
Afterwards
- Expect three to five days of tenderness after fitting and each adjustment
- Avoid hard and sticky food that can dislodge brackets
- Retainers afterwards are not optional — teeth move back without them
